My life is crazy.
Or at least it feels that way. I am teaching child development classes for teen parents, leading two creative writing workshops, trying to finish editing my novel so I can send it in to agents, and writing a blog (check it out at http://afingerson.blogspot.com). I am also trying to get active and spend time with my family.
I started this blog because I knew, I still know, that I need to be more consistent with my scripture reading routinee. However, realizing that my life is a bit crazy and will only get crazier with the start of the holiday season, I decided to write my posts a little in advance of when they are published. That way, if life ever really gets in the way, I will have the chance to catch up before a post is due.
Today was the first example of that. I was supposed to write this post yesterday, but it just did not happen. I don't have a good excuse for why it didn't happen, so I won't offer one. I did, however, make myself read President Monson's introduction before I fell asleep last night. I just didn't have the time to write and reflect on it. So, I am writing down my thoughts this morning.
President Thomas S. Monson: Welcome to Conference
There were two major topics or issues that stood out to me.
First, at the beginning of the introduction President Monson reminded us how many years it has been since the first radio broadcast of conference (90 years), and the first television broadcast (65 years). For me this was a reminder about the many blessings that have come to the world because of technology. I know that there is a lot of content floating around that web, and other media sources, that can destroy the spirt, but there is so much wonderful and uplifting articles, images and videos. We just have to seek out the good.
Second, President Monson also spoke about temples for a moment. When all of the temples previously announced are completed there will be 170 temples spread across the globe. This is amazing and wonderful. I feel blessed to live close to so many temples. The work performed there is sacred and life saving.
Ok, that is all for today. Have a wonderful time reading conference. I will see you tomorrow.
